Ok guys and girls, I had found this new perfect home for my blog – it’s WORDPRESS. It’s fantastic and .. i really don’t know how to put it. It’s like, YOUR LIFE, in categories. It’s soo perfect and organised. Knowing me as a perfectionist, you know I like my life to be organised (well if not in real life, at least I’d like for my STORIES to be in order 3x) One thing that i like the most about WORDPRESS is it allows you to password protect your entries.

As in my case, I’d like to share SOME things with a certain group of readers, and share some OTHER things with some other group of friends (u know what i mean?) like deepest secrets, cursing, crushes and some other stuffs guys don’t want their girl friend to read.

Obviously if u wanna write about your classmate u can’t put ‘em in general entry, u gotta password protect them. Now that it seems everyone in my uni is reading my blog, i gotta have this mechanism, really.

Oh and it’s so weird that all of the sudden a lot of ppl noticing my blog. Is it because i bitch about stuffs a lot? I put lots of artistic pictures? I tend to be expressive about myself? Confused. Got some comments on previous post that some readers HATED my pictures (saddened to hear this hehe) but some others like it.

Anyhow, I wanna stress here that MY BLOG IS MY LIFE. You can’t really change the content of your blog, technically, because for me, what i write here in my blog is my thoughts and activities during my life. Hence the pictures, because in my opinion, with pictures I can tell the story more vibrantly and vividly without ever having to imagine bombastic words to describe the fantastic moments (get my vibe?)

I want to create a space where I will put all my memories and thoughts and pictures, and 10 years later laughing at this specific entry, thinking how immature i had been when i was 22 years old (obviously when you’re 32 u think different from when ure 22).

I want to create a space where I am able to collect all my past photos and will be able to publish them in the future.

I want to create a space where I am able to potray my life in the most extreme way possible (ok ok i’m joking) and where people would get a clear picture of what I am inside and out.

But of course, having a blog that shows ALL of your life, you gotta have private entries. Here is where password protected entries is important. At least for your personal satisfaction. You don’t wanna have other readers read about your one night stands or reading about how you say fC*k 1000 times to the lady driver. People would make disgusted face and say “oh man he is so violent” or perhaps “a future doctor cannot have this attitude! it’s disastrous!”… … without ever they realising that I am a human being. I make mistake and I curse. Hehe. This is my collection of reasons why i am moving to WordPress: (will be updated as I go on)

Some important factors:

  • Password Protected entries (very important for private thoughts that u don’t want others to read – Blogger can’t do this. Everyone is entitled to read what you wrote, unless you create a private blog to store all your entry – which is very troublesome.
  • Categories – enabling you to file your entries into specific files – very useful when you want to find specific trips or specific thoughts. Blogger can’t do this, every post is simply jumbled up in one huge folder and u gotta search in vain to find that specific one.
  • WordPress allows you to add subpages (like http://lifeinside.wordpress.com/subpages). I see this as an huge advantage for an expansion for my blog without having to create other new blogs for other purposes. I had always wanted a new sub-blog without leaving the parent blog. Blogger does not allow you to have subpages (eg http://lifeinside.blogspot.com/subpages), unless you’re willing to pay for it.
  • Your sidebars are arranged in an orderly manner – you don’t have to play with the template and memorise HTML commands in order to change the position.
  • It allows you to moderate comments (same feature with Blogger, but it has ANTI-SPAM feature) which I need so much in handling some unwanted visitors into my blog.
  • It has it’s own stat services without you having to register to some other crappy web counter that adds advertisements to your blog.
  • The template is more stable and safe, as compared to Blogger’s template (where I had experienced multiple session of my template gone missing)
  • For professional bloggers (not me dude!) you can mess with professional settings like Meta & RSS1 to maximise your full blog potential.
  • More frequent reply to questions in the Forum section.
  • It’s more professional than blogger. It recognizes that you want the best from your blog – not some cikai hosting service (i must admit that i’m a sucker for free GOOD services)
  • The most important feature – it allows you to IMPORT posts from other services (eg blogger or typepad) into WordPress. This enabling you to change domain without ever have to change your entries! Perfect, eh?

Other not-so-important but user friendly features:

  • Huge, huge user friendly buttons and word forms. They give you a warm feeling, like you have a new christmas present lol. I like this one because it reminds me of the kid in me. The buttons changes colours! (this is cute tho) when you publish a new entry.
  • Interesting wide array of template that offers more personalised feature of your blog.

Ok that’s it. I will add more as I go on. but having to read all these, I guess you’d want to see it for yourself. My template in WordPress sucks big time, but it’s the only template that allows me to include all of my photos without ever being cut at the sides. No worries I’ll find a new template later, a much interesting one.

Cheers and thanks for visiting. :)

I have moved to wordpress recently and infact i have bought my own domain here. I have to agree with all the wonderful things you mentioned here. However the only thing that troubles and puzzles me is the (damn) slow speed it takes to download the pictures on the webpage. This really tests my patience. Have you ever faced this kind of problem? I am wondering whether having a domain puts me in this delicate situation. Perhaps i need more patience (and patients huhu).
