Now, on to the production. This album is an almost perfect example of good production quality. By production, I mean the music. The arrangements of the songs are of superior standard. But the greatest gift Anuar could have given his fans in this album is spoiling us with LIVE STRINGS in EVERY track. When I was driving and listening to the album for the first time, I was intrigued that song after song offered real strings. Do you know how expensive that is??? So I stopped the car to check the album credits. True enough, each track was recorded with live strings. Now I’m not only impressed but completely floored. Wow!

If that were not enough [live strings-Ed], Anuar went on to have live horns and live drums and live everything in some tracks! Ohhhh….almost orgasmic! You can HEAR with your ears that a lot of money went into this album’s production.

Nick Lee did an excellent job with the mastering. The sonic qualities are finely and delicately balanced and sometimes, I almost feel like I’m being wrapped in cotton wool by the silky edge of Anuar’s voice. Fantastic. The music isn’t so brightly hot and neither is it too mellow or wet. Yet it doesn’t tire the ears. Nick is a magician with very fine taste.

Overall, what Anuar has achieved through this album is an even bigger sound from the previous album but with distinctly controlled singing that is classic Anuar Zain. So if you love high notes, grand arrangements, soaring strings and the most impeccable and polished singing by Anuar ever, here’s an album you really should buy. And I mean BUY, not download. Support good music and pay the artiste what he’s worth.

LAGU Lelaki Ini mengembalikan semula Anuar Zain ke pangkuan peminatnya. Tetapi ada sisi lain yang kurang senang dengan kemunculan album ini. Album yang meminjam nama Anuar Zain sendiri ini, memuatkan tujuh lagu komposer Indonesia. Hanya ada tiga karya tempatan.

SEORANG teman bercerita, betapa dia tersentuh hati mendengar lagu-lagu dari album terbaru Anuar Zain. Katanya, lagu-lagu dalam album itu banyak yang syahdu. Malah katanya, dia siap menangis lagi ketika mendengar lagu Ketulusan Hati dan Teman Terulung.

Lalu terlintas di fikiran Kak Tim, pastinya album itu benar-benar yang terbaik dari Anuar selepas lima tahun tanpa album. Tetapi Kak Tim sendiri belum berpeluang menyaksikan Anuar menyanyikan lagu-lagu dari album tersebut.

Kak Tim dapat saksikan bagaimana peminat-peminat Anuar begitu teruja tatkala mendengarkan Anuar mendendangkan lagu itu. Malah vokal Anuar tidak perlu dipertikaikan lagi. Tetapi apa yang ingin Kak Tim katakan di sini ialah Kak Tim tersentuh ketika menyaksikan Anuar menyanyikan lagu keduanya, Teman Terulung.

Begitu syahdu. Lebih terharu lagi apabila Anuar sendiri menangis selepas menyanyikan lagu tersebut. Barulah Kak Tim mengerti apa yang diperkatakan oleh teman Kak Tim tempoh hari.
